More investor buyers around 'than people looking for own homes'

There are currently a lot more investor buyers around than people
looking for their own homes, according to one property
expert.
Karen Goodin, a partner at Black Brick, which was founded in
January 2007, said that whereas last year people would have been
buying big houses to live in as a home or second home, the focus is
now much more on flats than houses and people are looking for
investments.
Her comments follow the publication of the latest Land Registry
House Price Index, which indicated that sales volumes of property
over £1 million decreased far more dramatically than the
overall figure in the 12 months to May this year.
"We've noticed a real demand for apartments as opposed to houses,
definitely," said Ms Goodin.
The news comes after Andrew Smith, head of research for
Primelocation.com, commented that the shortage of prime stock in
London has begun to buoy prime property prices in the
capital.
