Demand for rental properties 'to be strong'

The demand for buy-to-let properties in the UK is likely to remain
strong, an expert has said.
According to Alan Ward, chairman of the Residential Landlords
Association, the sector has been successful over the last ten years
and this is not likely to change.
Making his remarks at the Avoid the Voids webinar, he stated: "At
least with property I still have firm confidence in the value of
that, simply because of the demand that is stacking up from the
population."
It is very unlikely that the equity value in bricks and mortar is
going to fall, Mr Ward added.
In a word of caution to those involved in the property rental
market, however, he pointed out that there are legal
responsibilities that come with owning buy-to-let homes.
Mr Ward's comments follow the release of figures from the Land
Registry and Nationwide, which showed that average house prices
have risen by 7.5 per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively over the
last year.
